And it is also believed that Moses received the tables of the law with the Ten Commandments inscribed at the summit of the Mount Sinai.

The Saint Catherine Monastery dates back to the age of the emperor Justinian during the 6th century which is the same time when the enclosure wall surrounding the monastery you can see today was built. However, the monastery was named Saint Catherine at the beginning of the 11th century in the honor of Saint Catherine who was one of the earliest Alexandria Christians martyrs.

After exploring the incredible monastery, our tour will head towards the start of the track leading to one of the geological wonders of Sinai, the colored Canyon with is about 65 kilometers to the north of the Saint Catherine Monastery. The canyon has extremely narrow walls 40 meters high and a little more than a meter in width made out of sandstone having an implausible range of shades from dark brown to red to straw yellow. All this occurs due to the presence of magnesium and iron oxides. After exploring this magnificent site we will go back to the Dahab City for lunch where you can enjoy walking along the Dahab Street, Mashyia.
